CAS Wood-Based Panels, Module 2 Adhesives and Emissions, Bern University of Applied Sciences Biel, Switzerland

The programme is part of the CAS Wood-Based Panels. It consists of an e-learning course and an intensive training course in Switzerland, aiming to give a short overview of the topics and to provide some foreknowledge for the participants that are not intensively working in specific fields of study. The e-learning course starts in December 2017, followed up by the intensive training week that takes place in Biel, in January 2018.

The European Forestry House Celebrates 10 Years of Existence

A summer reception was held at the European Forestry House to mark its 10-year anniversary. Over the past decade, the European Forestry House has opened its doors to a wide variety of events, providing a platform for continuous exchanges of relevant ideas, know-how and information on forest-related issues. The organizations of the house have successfully increased the profile and perception of the forest and forest-based sector and have turned the house into an acknowledged center of competence for an ever-increasing number of forestry issues.

InnovaWood workshop held on 18-19th May, Koper, Slovenia

University of Primorska hosted a gathering of top-tier European Forest Based Sector researchers and research managers in Koper, to map out the future of the InnovaWood association. The main emphasis of the discussions of the attending high-ranking researchers and managers was on the development of the association’s future business model and on the in-depth introduction of the European research and innovation (political) landscape, including the enhanced understanding of policy documents and calls for proposals’ texts.

The first “Charm of Wood” exhibition opened in Koper, Slovenia on 19th May

In the presence of several high-ranking researchers and managers, who were attending the InnovaWood association Executive Board meeting and Interactive Workshop, the first “Charm of Wood” exhibition was officially opened in Armeria Palace. With its theme, the use of hardwood for wood-based products, it supports the current trends in the European wood science research, and underscores the research efforts at the University of Primorska (UP).

The main aim of the Charm of Wood event is for people to get reacquainted with all of the benefits of using wood, because the wood processing industry will not survive without an increase in consumption. The Charm of Wood line of events serves to present the various ways of using wood as a material to people and to spark interest and positive attitudes toward this natural resource.

PhD workshop “Think outside of the wooden box!” , 3-6th July 2017, Hamburg

The workshop is organised by the University Hamburg, Centre of Wood Science and Technology, COST Action FP1407 and InnovaWood.
Target group for the workshop are researchers in the PhD phase and early post-doc researchers. The event aims at connecting ideas of young researchers, active in adjacent topics such as process engineering, building physics, wood and material science. 

Cost Action FP1407 provides 15 grants for participating to this event.

Registration deadline: 5 June 2017.
