The EU-FWC meeting will be held on 12^th and 13^th January 2009 at KCL,  Espoo, Finland . The main aim of the meeting is to hasten the finalisation of the chain topology, to discuss and clarify open questions and to plan together the work for the last months. The meeting is aimed for all EFORWOOD partners actively working with EU-FWC.

The European Commission is preparing a major conference on “Sustainable development: a challenge for European research” that will take place in Brussels on 26-28 May 2009. This conference will initiate a structured dialogue on how to reform European research to best respond to sustainable development challenges. It will also investigate ways for improving the science-policy link and the relationship between science and society. Call for papers and competition deadline: 15 January 2009

The workshop on chain designing will take place on 24-26 September 2008 at IFER, Jilove u Prahy, Czech Republic. The main aim of this workshop is to built the topology of the EU-FWC in the EFORWOOD database. Participants are expected to have the topology ready (on papers, powerpoints etc....), IFER will assist with converting it into the database.

The inquiry made concerning module-specific models used in EFORWOOD has now been completed. Please find it attached.

In accordance with decisions made at IP Board meeting (29) recently, the forest biodiversity indicator has been added to the DCP. The protocol now contains 25 out of the 27 indicators listed according to the 2008 revised set of FWC sustainability indicators of April 30. The two missing indicators still have question-marks to be solved.

The document "EFORWOOD Count-down 080704" is the latest update approved by the IP Board. It contains deadlines for major activities which have to be finilased during the remaining months of the project.

This file contains information on the ToSIA tool - what can ToSIA be used for, its applications from different perspectives and on different scales.  Potential end users and post-project applications for the tool are also identified.

IP board minutes (27) have been published now.

The file containing M2 forest resource runs per country, serving as input to EFI GTM for the A1 reference future, is now available and uploaded.  These runs cover EU27 countries except for Malta, Cyprus, Greece.  Thay include also Croatia, Switzerland and Norway.  Further information from Gert-Jan Nabuurs.

Being co-organiser of the international conference Impact of Land Use Changes in Berlin 6-9 April 2008, EFORWOOD partners gave in total 9 presentations. Here you can find the slide versions of the presentations. Among other things results from the second prototype of ToSIA was presented.

The ToSIA prototype 2 documentation is now available in the attached Deliverable.

We need to gather information about existing models, used in EFORWOOD, in a systematic way. Please fill in the attached inquiry form if you have models to contribute with!
