On Wednesday 14 September the Information Day & Brokerage event on the 2017 calls for proposals of Horizon 2020's Societal Challenge 5 "Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials" was organised in Brussels.
Some of the presented calls in SC5 in 2017 might be of interest to the forestry-wood value chain. In particular the following:
SC-15b-2017 Good practice in waste collection systems >> projects in this call should address packaging and paper waste, only 1 project will be funded (approx.. € 1.5M)
SC-15f-2017 EU network of regions on sustainable wood mobilisation (wood supply) >> only 1 project will be funded (approx.. € 1.5M)
SC-16c-2017 International network of raw materials training centres.
All information on these calls can be found at the EU Commission call page.
The plenary session of the event included as well some interesting presentations that could be very helpful for you to consult in the preparation of any EU project proposal.
1. Policy framework of Societal Challenge "Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency & Raw Materials" >> interesting for scoping the impact of your project proposal
2. Cross-cutting issues & best practices in writing proposals >> general considerations to fulfill in your proposal
3. Open data >> how to deal with IP and IPR
The complete programme of this information day and recordings of all sessions and presentations can be found at the information day website
We also inform IW members that the call text of SC5-15f on wood mobilization refers back to the EIP Raw Materials.
InnovaWood has been strongly involved in the establishment of 5 commitments in this EIP during the last 3 years. The content of this call SC5-15f is clearly linked to the scope of our ECAMOB commitment and the NOWMOB commitment. This example shows that our work to promote our interests via the EIP Raw Materials has been fruitful and that this strategy has been successful. Let’s hope that this example will not be the only one and that more of research interests will be picked up in the future.
